Default Gear Install

Alright guys I am looking to do gears as my next mod. I have a local shop that does all kinds on work on mustangs and other cars and they said they will install gears for a flat rate of 250. is this a fair price? thanks for all your help

250 sounds like a pretty decent rate. Ive heard of lower, but not by a whole lot (170ish) but I have heard of higher by a whole lot (600ish) and more frequently.

250 is fair if they do a good job. Make sure this shop understands that there shouldn't be any gear whine no matter how steep of gear you go with. Many shops will blame gear whine on the gear when it is really the product of a crappy instal.

It sounds like my stock gears whine a little bit now especially 1 and 2. Is this normal?

Jack the car up and count how many times the driveshaft makes a complete rotation per one rotation of the wheel....driveshaft will rotate 27 times and the wheel will rotate 3 times for 3.27's....3.73's the driveshaft rotates 73 times per 3 wheel rotations and 4.10's the driveshaft rotates 100 times per 4 wheel rotations.......at least I'm pretty sure this is how it works. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

the driveshaft should rotate 3 and a quarter times for one revolution of the tire for 3.27's....and just over 4 turns for 4.10's
