Threw a PO200, Pinging too
just bought a '96 GT 4.6 last week. The car has 85k and has been sitting around for the last 2 years.
I was crusing (70mph in 5th) on the freeway and all the sudden I threw a P0200 (Injector Circuit Malfunction)
My car has been pinging the past week too, which I thought was the 87 left in the tank from the woman I bought the car from, but apparently not. I am going to Sea-Foam through the intake tomorrow morning, change the Fuel Filter, and see what happens.
I am guessing that this could be a faulty injector, bad timing, or a load of carbon buildup clogging an injector or two.
Last but not least, the injectors have corrosion and rust on the outside of them, i dont know if this could make any difference. Im not a fuel injection expert, what do you guys think this could be?
Maybe an excuse to invest in a 75mm TB and some 24# Injectors

new plugs, seafoamed it, replaced the Fuel Filter, checked injectors, checked vacuum lines,
AND IT WAS....an exhaust leak at the H PIPE welds. Yes, the previous owner had the h-pipe welded in (awful welds!)
This had 3 top Bay Area mechanics stumped too! But its solved!

uhm well thats your car and to me this sounds like he needs injectors. and stick w/ stock size. u have no need for bigger injectors. maybe if u were runnin h/c/i then i could buy it but not on stock motor. also pull the plugs and examine. then post findings. then do your seafoam or injector cleaner or w/e. see what that does. but i bet u that its injectors. just do the other **** first cuz it cant hurt and will help tell u wats wrong.

so i just pulled my plugs and found two plugs had gaps at about .070 or so. the plugs were worn out but not too bad, plugs were a little red though--[] i changed them- the car runs better but im still getting pinging every once and a while. I also discovered exhaust leaking at the h pipe welds which makes the car sound like its pinging...i have a full bassani catted xpipe, borla stingers, and bassani tips in my garage that I am throwing on next week. i'm doin a CAI along with it too.
I checked the injectors with my noid light and listened to all of them pulse- they sounded ok and the injectors are getting their electricity. However, there is a good amount of corrosion on the outer part of the injector where you can see them, and some injectors are loose- i mean, I can move them side to side with not too much effort. I dont know if thats good or bad- being able to move your injectors....
The seafoam was a good one. Ive done about 100 or so of them and i would say my car was among the top 10. Noticed a gain in MPG too.
Ill see what happens after i throw the exhaust on- but any advice regarding the corrosion and movement of the injectors would be helpful!
thanks
