I think this is all about how much u want a stick. Y dont u just get gears, shift kit, and a converter with a good stall and whip MOST 5&6 speed azz? I think that will be less than $3000

spend about 2g's and you'd be set to roll off on most mustangs rolling the street now . .

autos are much faster . . .

That is WAY too expensive for a conversion unless you are getting a 6 speed or something.

A lot of places sell full swap kits for less than $2,000 and all shops i have talked too will do the swap for under $400.

I was peiceing one together and was going to have it all done for right around $1400.

If you "rele" wanted a stick, why did you buy an auto?

Well since this site is to help people and not to tell them how to think here goes:
+1 on automatics with a properly matched stalls, shift kit, and gears being faster
+1 on 3200 being way too much for a conversion unless it's close to a 6 speed viper spec T-56
+1 on maybe trying to find a stick instead of buying an auto car
Now the part I don't agree with. If you want to convert it to stick, here's a few thing to consider, D&D performance sells rebuilt T3650's for a grand, you can probably scrap up the clutch pedal and hardware for it at a junkyard for 100 or less. Then you could get a new clutch cable, clutch, and flywheel from where ever you wanted to, and depending what you know or if you know somebody who can do the conversion or help you with it, put it in. But, even if you still have to take it to a garage, I think you can still pull this off for 2g's or less. But this is just my .02.

I am getting ready to do this on my 96GT. I am getting the following parts for 500.00 from a guy local around here:

T45
flywheel
manual ecc
t45 wiring harness
pedals
driveshaft
stock shifter
clutch cable with firewall adjuster and aluminum quadrent

Then I will stick in 120.00 for the clutch. 385 for a sniper tuner SF, and I will be on my way. As far as labor, it is a pretty straight forward swap. Total coming to 1005.00 and that is with the tuner that I needed no matter what trans I was using. It will be even cheaper if I can talk my buddy into going in half with me for the tuner.

Deals are out there, just keep looking around.

for a more fun car, convert. if youre into running at the track and want to woop up on some manuals who talk smack, build up the auto.

I think wolv is being naive... Its not just that cheap.

Either way $3,000 is way too much.

I know you are wanting help on doing the swap but look at it the way i did... I was about to pull the trigger on the swap until i realized what i could do with that money performance wise instead of getting one of the shi*ty stock Ford transmissions.

You could do gears/shift kit/ and maybe cams all instead of a swap.
