Sumis?
ordered a set of 315 35 17 sumitomosfor the rear and a set of 245 45 17's for the front from tirerack.com. got a call today from a guy at tirerack saying that these tires are extremely dangerous on a mustang. is there any truth to this and if so what?
thats bs, my buddy runs them on his 03 cobra daily and has no issue. theyre not the best track tires, but then what do you expect for around $100. if you want a great all around tire with good life and a decent price get yokohama s-drives.
I agree not a track tire but i have had the exact combo on my car now for about a year/15k miles absolutley no complaints, a little loud on the highway but i really cant hear it over my exhaust. I would recomend them for a daily driver and i will purchase them again for my ride just dont expect any 2.0 60ft outta them or anything.
I cut a 2.065 on them lol, and that was on the245's sumi's. I just recently purchased the 315's with my new wheels and i have no complaints with them. Like twin turbo said, they do have a little highway noise but overall they are worth the 100 or so bucks you are going to spend on them. If you plan on going to the track buy you two 15 or 16 inch wheels and put some stickey tires on those (if you are trying to save money). Good luck.
i have that same combo, and like heavy metal said, you get what you pay for. dangerous? not really, im sure they will not hook up as good as the nittos but for an everyday tire, it works.if you want a sticky tire, just do what delta v said and get some stickies put on a set of 15' tires and you'll be set on the track.
Bottom line on those tires is that they are a good, affordable tire for daily driving. They are not the best on the track, but they will grip the road just fine in every day driving situations. Additionally, they last pretty long if you take care of them (proper inflation, rotation and minimal burnouts).
