Default BIG PROBLEM! need help plz

hey guys i took out my car today for the first time this week and while acclerating (in boost and not) it was hesitating, backfiring, and totally running like poop. I pulled over into a parking lot and popped the hood but couldn't really see anything wrong, all the injectors and cop's were on there tight. I decided to take it easy and go home and while i was on the last straightaway on which my house sits it kinda goosed it for a couple seconds but not too much and it did it again but this time i smelled something burning. The smell quickly dissipated but i dunno what it was. I dont think it was the clutch...either way the backfire/misfire was pretty bad. I was thinking maybe i need new spark plugs and/or COPs..? Anyone know how to test the COPs?? Well thanks in advance for any help provided.

Dave

Try changing the plugs. I got a tank of bad gas where mine was missing all of the time, flushed the tank out and replaced the plugs and it ran good as new. And for $10-15 it wouldn't hurt to try the plugs.

ok i just pulled out one of the plugs and it had a lot of what looked like oil on the threads but when i smelled it and touched it (very thin) i thought it was some sort of anti seize or something. The tip of the spark plug is very dry and somewhat has a bit of whitish discoloration. Tested the COP with an ohmmeter and it tested good. Does anyone know if the part number for the tr6 is 4177??

white discoloration on the plugs is usually a sign of it beng too hot which usually comes from running lean (at least on an n/a car) I dont know if F/I changes anything?

oh ok well im not sure then...its only slightly whitish but who knows..So should i take it to the dyno shop and see what my afr is at? Another thing is that whereever i go trying to find TR6 plugs for this car they say that it wouldnt fit. Only tr55 would, even though i pulled one out just now. I called autozone and they have tr6 plugs but their computer says it wouldn't work for my car. What other plugs is everyone using with f/i??
