Default edelbrock intake?

anybody here know much about it? i remember a thread a month or so back, but i think we lost it when the site took a **** on us..

that carb style intake thats for efi... few things, as im looking into it(will be doing it, and about 3k worth of other **** at the same time)

1. where do yall find it forsale? i thought it was cheaper then most 4.6 intakes, i found it on summit, but its 750 there... i coulda swore someone here found it cheaper..
2. it says u need their fuel rails, but ive heard on here... you do not... any 1st hand exp?
3. stock 4.6 the intake is the hold back on nitrous... w. an intake like this, where fuel would be less likly to puddle, how big a shot can i really go?
4. any hood clearance issues?

350 plus what ever elbow you will need. I would look into the sullivan elbow see if that works. it goes from a oval t/b to the carb style manifold like the edelbrock and retains IAC controller but i dont think the EGR.

I ordered one 6/11/08, it was on back order until 6/27/08. It still has not made it to my door.

Here is the scoup that I have gathered from my research.

You need the intake. Summit, Jegs, etc. carry it. I got it from AMP Performance. 330-350 depending on sales and discounts.

You need different rails. I bought the Edelbrock rails but I'm told you can use Mach1 rails. Good luck finding those. AMP had the rails for about $100 and I didn't want to bother hunting for a set of Mach1's.

You need an intake gasket set. I got mine from Napa for $36

You need hardware. This is a quote from an email I have. This guy has installed 2 on his and his wife's car.
The intake manifold will require shorter bolts (about ½†/ 12.5mm shorter). Also, the heater core feed hose connection is molded as part of the OEM manifold. An adapter will be required (3/8†NPT X ¾†Hose barb), and either 2 3/8†NPT plugs. 1 for the front driver side coolant port (under the alternator bracket, next to the radiator hose inlet), and 1 for the manifold vacuum/boost reference port. A 1/8†NPT plug for the passenger side manifold port (below the carb/TB mounting pad), and (8) coil retention bolts, as the threads are not the same on the Edelbrock unit. Also, be aware that you may have to “manipulate†the EGR tube into place, and that the EGR solenoid assembly will NOT line up with the factory mounting holes. Oh, and the mounting holes that are available to use 1 of the bracket holes require a 5/16-18 bolt (3/4†long, and I would also incorporate a ¼†spacer to make sure that the other side of the bracket clears the fuel rail)!
I didn't feel like re-typing all of that and didn't want to miss anything. I have most of it now and I think I have about $25 in hardware. The mose expensive was the NPT plugs.

With this adapter...

...You can use your stock elbow and TB. The guy who makes the adapter is the one who I have been emailing about this with.

I can't answer your nitrous question as I have no experience with it.

As far as I know, there will be no hood clearance issues.

The 7 something is the entire carb setup minus the carb. You need the EFI intake only version. 434 for the intake and rails from AMP Performance but like I said, it has been on back order and I still don't have it yet. 120 for the plate shipped, about $25 in hardware, $36 in a set of gaskets from napaand I still need a 3/8 NPT to 3/4 hose barb adapter, longer tubing and coil hold down bolts. When it's all said and done, I'll have a little over $600 into it and have a better intake than the made in China-Professional Products POS and $200 less than a Trick Flow.

Here is where I got it from:
http://www.ampperformance.com/xcart/...roductid=29595
28385 is the edelbrock part number if you want to search somewhere else
Here is the fuel rails
http://www.ampperformance.com/xcart/...t=0&page=1
3639 is the edelbrock part number.

What I typically do is get the part number from the manufacturer and google it. Everyone that has it listed should show up. Click the results and compare prices. AMP killed everybody else by $20 on the rails so I went with them. Unfortunately, they are back ordered everywhere so I don't knowhow much longer it is going to take to get here.

Check with Bayoumustangs/APS too. That is where I got the plate from. He said he sells them but he doesn't have them listed on his site.

Here they are on summit. Remember summit adds an $8 "handling" fee when you check out too. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...;y=11&x=19
Back ordered there too.

Why would you buy a carb manifold if you are gonna be using the stock FI stuff?

I had the intake on order from CMS, to do my stage 2 head and cam build.. I am also running a 100 wet shot kit from NX. I decided to cancel my order after i found out it was on back order and that I was going to have to do some fabbing to get it to work right. I am gonna have enough going on trying to get this project done in one weekend, so I didn't want to deal with it. I just went with the PI manifold.
