Exhaust Issue
I was getting my oil changed at Ford Dealership yesterday and they notice that my Steeda Catback exhaust on the left handside where it bends around the gas tank is close to the tank it melted the plastic off of the gas tank.
Anyone have this issue? My exhaust is solid and does not move. It is approximately 2-3 inches away should I be concerned? Does exhaust at the elbow create much heat that willheat up the gas tank? Thoughts? I DON'T WANT TO GO KABOOM!
I have had this exhaust system for over a yearnow.

The plastic is just a shield over the tank which is steel, however I am surprised that your exhaust would be that hot that far back.
I have a Magnaflow catback and at the point you describe it's not more than an inch from the plastic shield with no sign of any melting or distortion. I wonder if the installer used a torch to cut off the old system and made a "boo-boo"...

+1- the torch would be my only idea also. Doesnt seem like that should happen. Or maybeits a scape from something backed over instead of a melted spot.Just giving you another thing to consider
