Engine Burning Oil

Engine Burning Oil
Ive recently came into the trouble of my oil light frequently coming on. Having to add some oil here and there. So I decided to take it into the dealership and see what they have to say. Bad news followed.. My engine is burning oil threw the Cylinder rings. This had left me in quite a bad position I can either sell the mustang now while the problem is minimal or rebuild/buy a new engine. I'm not keen on selling the car and just handing off the horrible problem even though that may be the most suggested option. Ive been thinking about replacing the engine with a 98+ 4.6 litre as Ive heard they have more horse power then the 96-97 engines and that they fit just as nicely. Ive also considered while Im replacing the engine I might as well replace the rad and the clutch while everythings out. Does anyone have any suggestions wiether its to just get rid of it or instructing me on what my best option is on rebuild/new engine. Also does anyone have a webpage on engine prices? or know them off hand! Im sure theres a different price between the 96,97 and 98+ engines.
Please help. I do not wish to sell not only because the car is in perfect cosmetic condition but because its the first car I actually like and cant wait to get back in when i get out.
Hope you can help! Kevin.

RE: Engine Burning Oil
96-98 2v 4.6 are know as non-p.i. 99-04 have perfomance improved heads and intake if you have to get a whole new engine buy one from a 99-04. with some looking you can find a complete engine from 400.00-1200.00 depending on milage. the cheapest way to fix your problem is buy a whole new-used engine from a 99-04+ it will have more hp than what you have now.

FWIW, I bought my car with a rod knock (CHEAP!), so....I got a 2002 PI 4.6 from the junkyard with 44K on it for just under a grand.
Or you could always rebuild it with forged internals, then add the PI heads andintake.... and a blower.... It's just a matter of $$$.

Sry about the double tread but noone was answering and im stressin out about it! new engine from ford is $9100 rebuild comes to about $5000 after labour and all! Remember I am in canada so the prices are higher! But I like Trail ready's idea! i only hope i can find an engine like that around here! I've decided to keep a record for how much my engine is actually burning so i'll repost this tread later on with more info! Maybe some how I dont have to replace the engine and spend that much money!
