Default check engine code ?

so my check engine light keeps coming on. i went to autzone to get the code pulled. it pops up code PO153 (Heated 02 sensor bank 2 sensor 1). i have had off road pipes for some time now and never had a problem or the MILcome on. So my questions are: did the o2 sensor really go out? or did/can theMIL Elimators go bad?

try this, i works for me. remove the sensor and wash it down (the tip) with brakleen. reinstall and clear the code. you might have a code P1000 for a little while afterward though (drivability issue). it's always the downstream sensors that give me trouble.

what are some causes that would make the PO153 code pop up?

my book sez P0153 is "oxy sensor circuit slow response" (bank2,sensor1). i don't know what all that translates too.......

If your getting a P1053 then your o2 sensor is completly out. Those sensors are "heated" and when they fail, they dont heat which throws this code. The MIL Elims have nothing to do with the front o2 sensors, which is the problem in your case.

aponytoofast needs to read up a little bit better before he starts posting wrong information. Bank 2 Sensor 1 is the UPSTREAM o2 sensor on the drivers side. Bank 1 is the passenger side, bank 2 is the drivers side. Sensor 1 is the the one closest to the motor (upstream) sensor 2 is the one closest to the cat back (downstream) You installed your MIL Elims on the downstream o2's so therefore they have
basically no influence on the rear o2's.

E_LOW, you need to replace the drivers side, front o2 sensor. Then pull the battery cable off for about 10 minutes to clear the KAM (Keep Alive Memory) that the ECU creates which stores the codes.

i'll leave it up to you to answer the questions on here from now on. all i said was it's the downstream sensors that give ME trouble....... and i offered a description of the code definition which i beleive was correct.

i'm outta here, to many know it all's as usual. have fun!!!!!!

Dont get butt hurt because someone corrected your wrong information.

BTW cleaning the tip of the o2 sensor with brake cleaner will not make the heater work.
