Default need help

I have a 96 mustang 4.6 this thing was running good, then it started to act like it was running out of fuel. then it down shifted to second, and the cooling fan stops working. if you let it set for one hour it will start up and run for 30 min then it will do it again, if anyone can help, that would great[:@]

idk about the cooling fans/ downshifting into second, but cat converters take time to warm up and start working right and perhaps yours are bad although that would throw the SES light.
