Sixxer guy here buying a 2001 black/black mustang gt with 58 thousand miles tommorow. I had a longd ebate on whether to get a z28 or a gt. But in the end i bleed blue and i need to stick to what i'm known best for (my mustang). Anyways I was sold more to the Gt for it's sexy looks and suave interior. But the Camaro z28 has such a rush of power with that mean ls1... So hot lol

Anyways what bolt ons + tune that won't be to "extreme", can i do to get around the same RWHP as a camaro Z28 so i can get that power in my mustang gt. I'm aware my stock block can handle 400ish horsepower. I don't think i'd be making that much power anyways without f/i anyways. Thanks for any feedback

P.s. it's a 5 speed too =P

Your gonna have to throw the kitchen sink at it to get to LS1 hp #'s! Heads, cams, headers, etc... Or you could just run a small shot of nitrous!

 

LS1s get about 300 hp to the wheels. There is no bolt-ons that will get you there. With full bolt-ons and a progammer you'll be lucky to see 260-270 whp. I say get a N20 kit run a 125 shot, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a blower.

 

my friend did every bolt on imaginable and programer and 75 shot of nirtous and only beats a z28 by a tenth of a second in the 1/4

 

i've seen gt's with a few bolt ons make 300 rwhp or damn close like 290rwhp

 

Seriously, Full bolt ons with a chip aggressively tuned ( go on a dyno ) should be enough to match a Z28. Otherwise throw in a supercharger![8D]

 

Keep saving and get a 4V.

no bolt on 2v will make anything over 270 without interior work done... pretty common fact.
