if your going to take the time and money to buy headers go with long tubes. long tubes will give u more power than shorties. i went with MAC long tubes i got from rpmoutlet.com and ive had no problems with it. im sure when u do the header swap u will drop the k-member so if ur going to do that might as well get long tubes and do it only once. the thing is you will have to buy a xpipe system to fit the long tubes but when ur done you will the them.

Whatever you decide to do dont go shorty headers. SHorty headers actually make you lose power and torque below like 4000RPMs and then kick in after. In my opinion get yourself some Bassani headers or some JBA Long tubes.

yah but the thing is...if i plan on getting loud mouth 1's...im not gonna want the X-pipe...sounded kinda raspy...i heard clips from casper awhile back...i like just the exhaust system alone with out o/r h or x...its still optional...still deciding..i also hear that bbk shoty headers only help u at high rpms...when u really arent in the highs too much

Hey Redstanger... is your car an automatic or 5-speed? I am asking this because everywhere i looked for long-tubes it said "for manual transmissions only." Originally I wanted long-tubes but my dreams were shot down every time i saw this "for manual transmissions only" notice. Do you know if there is a brand that makes long-tubes for a 1998 automatic GT? If so, please let me know. Thanks.

With an unmodified car the shorties arn't going to do squat. If you get LTs you have to get a different midpipe. MM&FF did a back to back dyno test, and the best the shorties could come up with was like 3 horsepower AT THE FLY.

My bbk long tubes said for manual only and i put them on you just have to alter the transmission box a lil because its bigger giving less room for the headers. it is possible tho
