AC Problems!

AC Problems!
Hey guys I posted about my AC problem a few weeks back. When I turn it on it's not cold and my RPM's jump up and down. I lifted the hood the other day and turned the AC on full blast and I could hear a rhythmic hissing sound. Kinda sounded like hospital respirator that they use on people to help them breathe? Any ideas? I just wanna make sure that all I need is a recharge so I don't waste my time recharging the ACbut actually having a bigger problem on my hands that I don't know about. Thanks for your input guys!

RE: AC Problems!
The not cooling down sounds like it needs a recharge, but you need to look at the pressures and the sight glass. As for the RPM's jump up and down, if the are moving alot (around 400 on the low and 1100 on the high) mine was doing that and I ended up replacing the pressure cutoff switch on the filter/drier. Haven't had a problem since. I would recomend replacing the switch first, and then see if it takes care of both the problems. I picked the switch up at CarQuest for like $15-$20.

RE: AC Problems!
It's not quite jumping that much but it jumps about 200 to 300 in a constant rhythm. I can feel it while I'm cruising on the freeway so it's a pretty good spike. Thanks for the tip I'll check it out.
