I have a set of Bassani mid-length headers, & would like to know:

1) How much of a pain in my @$$ are they going to be to install? How long is this job going to take? I have a friend w/a lift in his garage who said he will help me out when I am ready, but I want to know what I am getting myself into.

2) How much would this installation run me from a shop? $500 approx???

3) What tools will I need? what kind of problems should I expect? OH...how hard will it be for me to get the factory headers off, and install the new ones [read: do I have to move the engine?? If so,...explain how please...I'm want to learn w/out having to blow my car up in the process<IMG src=smileys/smiley34.gif border="0">].

here are some tips, yes undo the driver side motor mount and lift to get extra room. starter off, move dip stick, and take off the oil filter. just some tips to help make it easier to get them in.

With mid lengths, you won't have much trouble.</P>


For a shop to do it, it would run around 500-800 bucks, maybe even more especially if they come into a problem, and we know those mechanics don't like to use their brains...</P>


I'd say do it with your friend who has the lift, the 2 of you can probably tackle it and have it done within 3-4 hours..tops.</P>


Basically all your doing is removing bolts and sliding in headers..</P>

Yea the mid-lengths are gonna be fairly easy, especially compared to longtubes. You wont need to remove the k-member, just stuff like the engine mounts (hold motor up with a jack and block of wood) and the sttering shaft I believe is the main stuff.

Yeah it's kind of a pain-in-the-*** job, but it's worth it to me to do it on my own than pay a shop $500+ and not even be sure if they'lldo it right in the first place. It's just time-consuming, but if you go step-by-step, you shouldn't have any problems. The lift will make it a lot easier.
