i was just installing my mgw and when i took the stock shifter off i saw that there was tranny fluid in the shifter hole. im going to drain the fluid and dont know where to fill it through, do i fill it through the hole or just anywhere in rectangle?

 

you can fill the fluid anywhere from the top, and there will be fluid in there because the fluid is flowing through your whole transmission keeping everything lubricated and cool.
