Smashed ABS ring
I the midst of my solid swap the driver's rear ABS ring got crunched. It's a small flat spot about an inch long and it's felt through the brake pedal pretty hardcomming to a stop from about 30 MPH. Can't feel it through normal braking any higher than that. Obviously, the light is on also....
I launched the car a few times to get a feel for the solid (soooooo much better) and on a hard launch, the light went out and the pulsating from the pedal was gone. Of course, after starting it again it comes back. Just so I don't have to deal with it until I can fix the ring, is there any way to remove or disable the sensor until I can replace the ring? |
When the ABS light comes on it shuts the system down. Your breaks are very important so ford designed it to just turn completely off when it sinces a problem. Your breaking problem may be air in the lines from the swap? Since your ABS ring is damaged then I recommend you just breaking it off when you get the new. Heat the new one up with a torch and it will slide on like hot knife thru butter and tighten up when it cools.

I had a smashed ABS sensor and the light didn't come on. The brake pedal would just pulsate violently whenever coming to a controlled 5-0mph stop. Annoying as hell. Got new stuff put on in the rear driver's side.. 200 bucks out the door. I could unplug the Fuse for the ABS and the light came on and shut off the whole system, but I like to get things done right.
