Default starting problem?

ok so heres the deal, i just got my 03 gt about 2 weeks ago. and when i got it, it came with only 1 key and no remotes or anything like that. but every once in a while when i go to start it, it turns over but takes 3, sometimes 4 seconds of turning over before it starts. sometimes it doesnt even start at all and i turn the ignition off completely and start it again and it will be normal. the key i have i think is the valet key. the name on the key says strattco or something. but it takes way too long for it to start when this does happen. it doesnt happen alot but it's annoying when it does. what do you guys think is causing this?

Does the theft light flash rapidly when this happens? If it does then you have a Pats issue. If not then you have another problem that needs to figured out.

Pats stands for Passive Anti Theft System. Its your cars factory theft system. If for some reason your car does not reconize the key it will not start. So to eliminate the factory security system from being a factor. when it happens again see if that theft light is flashing rapidly. If it is its not reconizing the key. the light should stay constant when working properly.
