Default a question from the books..

"the mechanic in the bay next to you is completing a clutch job on a pickup truck and has asked you to help install the transmission. the of you place the transmission on the guide pins. it slides in easily but stops about 3/4 in. from the clutch housing; it wont go any further. what is wrong? what should you recommend to your partner?"

i got this out of my book and i was wondering what the real problem would be.. it doesnt say in the book. have any of you experience this before?

Splines misaligned almost perfectly so that they will not "find" their way home--put the tranny in 4th gear and rotate the output shaft a bit...
