Default Swap question

With the PI heads, cams, and intake on my 98 gt will that change my shift points alot higher? And will my redline still be at 6k? Right now my car is still making power up till about 5k w/ all my mods stock i shifted at 4500-4600 and i know that was right.

Yes and Yes.

Your peak power will be higher in the rpms. 4600 is pretty freaking low too.

you peak power will be closer to 5500, and your rev limiter will be the same, 6k. the bottom end is what hates the revs, it's only balanced to 6500.

Is it just me? I've heard a lot about 4800 being the stock shift point between 2nd and 3rd gear--I have a 96 gt vert and if I floor it at launch (automatic tranny), second gear sticks until it almost reaches the redline--I have literally NO POWER between 4800 to 5900, so I'm waiting like 2 seconds for the damn gear to shift, and when third kicks in, it's a jolt of a boost forward. Is that the way it's supposed to be stock?!?! Please let me know! Damn confused...

Well im not to familiar w/ the auto's i dont like em. I have a 5 speed and I know my car stock didnt make any power at all past 4600. So try shifting it yourself. At around 4500 each time.

It's an AUTOMATIC...how am I to shift myself? Remember that putting the tranny in 1 or 2 instead of Drive only limits the transmission shift, and when you put it on 1 it only PREVENTS a shift to second, and on 2 it similarly prevents shifting to 3rd--It does not shift manually--meaning, if I'm flooring it while on 1, even if I flip up to 2 at 4800 rpms, it will not shift until 5900 rpms. Just because the limitation is removed, it doesn't mean it would be manually shifted.

What do you mean shift myself? Thanks!

You could back off the throttle and then hit it again maybe, but the problem would be your car would go so low in RPM range that it wouldn't matter.

This was my problem. The car made peak power at low 5000s, but if I shifted there it would drop so low in RPM that I was outta the power band down low too.,

No need to get mad im just not familiar w/ the autos ok. And why are you asking a question like that when my post was related to a PI swap not about your shift problem.
