Default Installing a new clutch cable

I have a brand new stock clutch cable that I got for a bargain off Ebay.. directly bought from Ford by someone.

I have a 2000 Mustang GT 5 Speed with 51,000 beat to hell miles on it. The car has seen 2 stock clutches and a performance clutch burned out (yea, run REALLY hard)

I just want to know what will improve once I install this cable? I mean.. the clutch pedal at the moment is pretty dang hard to push, and sometimes the shifter doesn't like reverse..

I also noticed the rubber boot near the shifter fork (attached to tranny) has a small rip in it.. will this affect anything?

I don't think the cable had anything to do with the fact the car has had 3 clutches in 8 years. Sounds more to me like the driver didn't know how to drive. Anyway, if your current stock cable is fine, i don't see any point in replacing it. If you do replace it, i don't think you will feel any difference.

Damn, you chewed through 3 clutches, WOW. do you not use your brake to hold the car on hills or something?

Anyways, I don't think the rubber boot will affect anything.

Well, if it's anything.. I DID NOT go through 3 clutches in 50k.. the idiot before me replaced the stock with a performance clutch, and I ripped the crap out and put another stocker in there.

I have been noticing lately mid-clutch as I press down the clutch I hear a faint tick and kinds feel it too, idk feels like I stepped on something that popped.

That sounds like your quadrant, I would suggest getting a Steeda one and a firewall adjuster. It makes the pedal feel better. And its made form aluminum which is quite a a bit stronger than the stock teflon piece.

I suggest a good quadrant and firewall adjuster so that you can properly adjust the clutch.

Maximum Motorsports is the only one I recommend.

Performance clutch or not, the stock Ford setup does not adhere to a quality adjusting setup.

BTW, the Maximum Motorsports quadrant and firewall adjuster were designed to be run with the OEM clutch cable.
