Default Cigarette lighter doesn't work..

I don't smoke.. but a friend of mine tried to use a cell phone portable charger in my car the other day and got nothing..

So basically today I tried to actually use the cigarette lighter and it didn't even heat up or pop out of anything. I want to install a radar detector at some point so this might pose a future problem.

What do you guys think, probably an under the dash fuse?

fuse one under the dash is for the cigarette lighter/power port. also does the port in the center console work?

Have you ever thought about hard wiring the radar detector? I recommend that because you're not tying up your cig ligher and if it's done right it looks really good.

Not really sure how that's done to be honest. I have always seen the curly wires coming from the detector mounted on the windshield. I kinda want the detector mounted on the windshield to be honest, it looks cool and you only have to turn your head slightly to see it.

Hard wire the fusible link to any switched 12v source and ground the other, tuck and hide wires and BAMMM, perfection.

No they both have different fuses but share the same ground.

My 2003 gt has a " lighter " below the fog light switch and one inside the arm rest. The car came stock without the lighters. Instead theres a plastic cap with 12V written on the side. I think ford didn't want a smoker to drive the car. I don't smoke so....I wonder if it has anything to do with the leather interior.

I just looked at mine too. On the center console there is a hole with a black cap.. the cigarette lighter doesn't go in there however, I tried. Is this just like.. a power outlet?
