Default Lifter ticking

My car ticking has been there since ive owned it. Im assuming that it is the lifters. Ive tried changing the oil (full syn) with no luck. Went for a drive tonight and it seemed worse than normal. Anyone have any BTDT heavier weight oil? Its more annoying than anything, replacing 32 lifters for the sound is out of the question. Anyone?

I have had some issues with the 4.6 ticking noise. Most of the time the driver's side collector pipe is the problem. A small exhaust leak can be confused with a lifter any day.

However, the fact that it seems to have gotten worse after switching to a different oil suggests you do have a lifter problem. Whatever the case, I would not go to a heavier weight oil. Modular motors are real finicky about this. I would definitely not run anything heaver then a 10W.

The type of oil was not changed, just the old oil taken out.
