Default Speedometer checklist

For some reason my speedometer does not work. I do have 4.10's with a speed cal and at first i checked that and everything is still wired right. The motor just went back in the car and i am thinking something could be unplugged. So what else makes the speedometer work?

yeah rpm's work. I actually just got it back from the tuner so i haven't been able to check too much because it got dark fast. I have just checked the first thing that came to mind being the speed cal

yeah it does suck it get dark so fast now. i don't know what else to suggest. i mean it is only a sensor, your speed cal then to your dash right along with power.
maybe the mph needle broke off. lol

your MPH hookup is connected to your tranny... there is your first stop... make sure everthing is connected to it and the wires are all good!

that is what i meant by i checked my speed cal. It wires into the VSS and reconnects to the tranny which is the first thing i checked. What is the next step now?

Well I didn't pull the sensor out of the tranny but could it be that it got tore up? Sorry for this dumb question but am i going to lose some tranny fluid if i pull the sensor out? Like i said though, all the fuses are good and i don't want go buy another VSS if i don't need one. Is there anything that could be affecting it with the plugs on the back of the instrument cluster? should i take that out and take a look at it or would that be wasting my time?
