Default Anyone else have this problem? (shift **** reach)

On my 04 GT it seems that since the day I've owned it, Ford didn't do to well in the ergonomics of where it's at and I always find myself "reaching" forward a bit for the ****. Usually now when I drive normally I can just use my fingers to shift but if I really want to palm it when I am shifting hard, I gotta lean forward a bit. I'm like 5' 11 and I don't have a particularly short reach so I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same way cause it kinda gets annoying after a while.

I'm, 5'11" as well but I don't have any problems. Ford did not want to use a shift linkage so it was designed around keeping it on the transmission.

I am 6' 1" and I have the same problem. Keeps me taking any serious look at short throw shifters.

MGW FTW! You can rotate and set the handle where you want. This way the shift **** will be closer to you. But that is 1 thing I miss about my s197, It had a great shifter position.

I love it..its one of the things that sold me on the Mustang believe it or not.. it feels like a muscle car shift.

You short ****ers also sit a lot closer to the dash then some of us 6' + guys.. I also have a gangster lean on my backrest as well.. If I gotta get nasty and do some shifting, I just sit up for the time being.. No big deal in either of my Mustangs
