Default Internals Question!!!

Hey everyone, i got a 2004 Mustang GT. Putting the Kenne Bell Supercharger on this winter while the car is out of commission. Need to know what kind of internals i should get to safely run this supercharger. I know you really dont need to, but my buddy has Vortech and has a 6 or 9 lb pulley on his stock GT, blew the motor. I will be having more HP and Torque than his GT so i def. wanna do some kind of internal work. Would forged Piston, Rods, and Cobra Crank be enough? or does anyone else have any recommendation? i dnt want to buy a short block, long block, or stroker kit. Just wanna know what i can do to get away with the power. Another question, would 03/04 Cobra internals work? piston, rods, crank. Thank you for viewing and hope someone out there can help me.

Pistons (low compression), rods and crank will be good. Remember if you get a Cobra crank (8 bolt) you will have to upgrade your flywheel. Also, what are you doing for upgrading your fuel system?

The stock crank is good to 500 hp. Stock rods should be limited to 450 hp or less. The stock pistons should work fine with 10 psi or less. The tune has a lot to do with engine failure. You can get a forged bottom end kit, but they run well over 2 grand uninstalled. You can run that KB on a stock engine, you just have to be carefull. If you are looking to push 450+ rwhp, then you are going to want a forged bottom end. I haven't a clue about the Cobra internals.

Go with what Code3GT said. If you have the money for then internals the do so. There is nothing like running an ungodly amount of boost. Do remember though, anything over 500 hp you will be needing a new tranny. The 3650 isnt the best and will blow under that much power.

oohh... and the Cobra internals wont work on the GT motor. The GT has a bore and stroke of 3.60 x 3.60 and the Cobra is 3.55 x 3.54.

I would first like to thank everyone who gave me the wonderful information. I def. do want to get the internals so that is a definate. Im glad that jdaniel let me know that the cobra internals would not work on the GT motor, that helped a lot. The other question, well two questions are.... 1. What should i do about the crank? Cobra crank? or another type? 2. Does anyone have any recommendations on pistons and rods? what compression should i be looking to get... 8.5:1 or 9.0:1?? Thanks again for all the wonderful information, hope some more keeps coming.

No problem... thats what we're here for.

As for the crank... you can get the Cobra crank but you will need to upgrade to an 8 bolt flywheel. As for the compression, any thing from 8.0 to 8.5:1 is a great compression ratio for high boost. The Cobra is 8.5:1. As for the rods and pistons, look into Scat or Manly.
