Default Hood insulator.....

I was wondering if any of you guys have taken off the hood insulator and if you had any issues with the hood paint. My intake manifold is too tight and I was thinking to take the insulator out to make some room but don't want to be painting my hood.

I had mine off for awhile. All I noticed was it got the underside really dirty. I never had any problems though

Why, if you don't mind my asking?

It weighs next to nothing, and protects the fiberglass/composite hood from engine heat...

I have a 97' GT with a bunch of stuff, included in that is a bullitt intake manifold, since I had to use double intake gaskets and adapter plates to kind of match the intake with npi heads, the intake now sits really high so high that I can barely close the hood. I was thinking that may be if I rip off the insulator I could gain an extra inch to an inch and a half of clearance to be able to close the hood.
