Default Need help

I need some engine knowledge. Well I understand that if you have a car making over 500hp then you need stronger internal parts to keep your engine "healthy", but what is everything you need? I read WORDS in another post that you need cams, rods, pistons, forged internals, and short/longblocks???// What exactly is all this stuff and what do they do and why are they important to have? Also i saw this on the MPH site http://modularpowerhouse.com/product...11970cc35f3374 and I was wondering if this is a brand new engine or what? I know its alot but i would appreciate the HELP!! thnx!

basically you need a good built bottom end to hold up
steele crank, h beam rods, forged pistons, and a good set of molly rings. the heads and cams can be stock, the bottom end is what takes the abuse

you need those parts, if you go around 400 hp your pushing it with stock parts and im talking flywheel hp, not rear wheel, rear wheel 325 or so is dangerous. better safe than sorry trust me.

I went to seanhylanmotorsports.com and found a 4.6l cobra crank, manley h rod, and manley dish pistons!! Will the cobra crank fit my 03 GT? And does it matter if the pistons are flathead or not?/ What are molly rings??

yes the cobra crank will work, but you need the flywheel too, chomolly rings or iron ductile rings, they are just a good strong ring, its what they are made from as opposed to the stock rings out of cast iron.
as far as the flat top or dished issue it depends on what you are doing, if you want to boost your engine you want a lower compression pistion, and the more you plan to boose the lower your compression needs to be, if your shooting for 500 hp a good 8.5 to i compession is what you want, but if you want to boost her more, i have 17cc dishes in mine its 7.8 to 1 compession, but i also plan to remove the kb in the neer future and replace it with an ati procharger with 20 to 25 psi boost. im looking for 800 plus rwhp. stoack compressin i wouldent recomend any more tahn 9 psi and that should get you close to 400 rwhp.
