Default Romeo or Windsor?

Quick queston. As you can see in my sig I have a 03 GT. Looked on line and can't really find the answer that I'm looking for.. Question is; What's the diff between the 2 and what motor comes in the 03 GT? Which is more durable and do they make the same HP?

the main difference is the slight variation in bolt patterns on the block and heads. for the romeo blocks, the shaft for the water pump was shortened and a different pulley was used for it. everyone claims the romeo motor makes like 3-5 more hp than the windsor block, but the variation in dyno numbers for both motors cant really pinpoint an exact hp difference

I have the same question. I have a 2001 GT manufactured in Nov. 2000. That site is great but it seems a little outdated. Can anyone help?

You should have a Windsor.
Mine has a white sticker on the drivers side of the engine block, right beneath the heads, which has a barcode and says "Windsor."

Here are 2 diagrams showing the differences of the bottom internals (Windsor came on 99-early 2001).

Windsor has 13 valve cover bolts. Romeo has an 6 bolt crank (for attaching flywheel), Winsor has 8. Romeo has a slightly higher compression ratio.

Boom! Lots of stuff to check, I'll go ahead and see if the barcode is readable or count the valve cover bolts as well.

Thanks for the diagram RedStallion

just count the number of valve cover bolts easy 13 windsor
or look at the 8th digit on the vin x for windsor w for romeo
both are rated the same but a pi romeo has less dish on the piston therefor a slightly higher c/r. that why they dyno a bit higher.
