Default Idle problem...help?

So I bought a manual 98 gt yesterday(always wanted a Mustang) I was driving around town today doing some errands and I noticed that it was idling kinda high. Then when I was stuck in traffic, every time I hit the clutch to shift it would jump up to about 3k rpm and sit for 10-15 seconds before dropping back down. I am not seeing any obstructions in the throttle cable, and I am guessing the other cable on the throttle body is the return which seems to bounce around a bit it i push it downward.

So I am guessing it may be that cable, a faulty throttle body gasket, or something I am missing. The check engine light isn't on so I'm not sure about a vacuum leak, and the tubing for the air filter seems ok. I figure I can take a look at the MAF since it could be dirty, but I am hoping for some feedback from someone that has gone through this before or may at least know something I don't.

Any suggestions?

*EDIT
Nevermind, looks like I figured it out. It seems it was the IAC and if anybody wants to use this page as a resource, it helped me out a lot http://www.muscularmustangs.com/iac.php

I sprayed the hell outta that thing with carb cleaner and looks like it did the trick, the idle is stabilized and it is much easier to shift now. My biggest worry with it was pulling up to a cop and having the engine rev to 3k. That would suck lol.
