Default biggest cams in a NPI motor?

I'm wanting to do a cam swap in my '96 GT, I've been told by the local Mustang shops that with the times my car runs at the track, they would not recommend bothering with a PI swap. Plus I'd love to hold on to the torque that NPI puts out.

My question is, what cams would you guys recommend on a NPI motor, or the biggest I could go? I know where I can get a set of VT stage 1's for a good deal new, but I was hoping to do more than stage 1's. And also, I will be upgrading the valve springs, so that's not a problem. I'm also looking into the Comp 270 or 274s, I'd be willing to go with either one of those.. Then of course, there's VT stage 2's..

What do you guys think? all input is appreciated, thanks

That makes no sense. More air = more potential power. The pi swap would give you lots of torque just from the compression boost alone and then you add the much better ports and you've got a great combination. Then add some gears into the mix : ) and your dealing with a whole different beast. The Non ported NPI heads are garbage throughout the whole powerband compared to pi heads do the swap and you wont regret it.

the limit on the npi heads is around .545 lift using the crower offset retainers.

I think I was convinced today to go with ahead with the head swap, it's just been hard for me to commit to it for some reason.. plus I run nitrous at the track, so the compression boost would be another advantage I guess.
