Default problems starting

my mustang has been having some hard times starting. I start it it kicks over then i get a loud pop out of the exhaust and it shuts off. It starts on the second try. It only does this sometimes. Has anyone had this problem. The car has sat pretty much all winter being driven on nice days. I've been told maybe water in the gas??? I'm running fuel cleaner through it now but i am stumped.

Sounds like a bad injector leaking fuel into the combustion chamber.Any codes or CEL?

Have you done any basic diagnostics?

ya i'm having that problem too... just sometimes. My CEL is on but I thought it was because I don't have cats. Looks like I need to run up to autozone for them to do a quick diagnostic check and check the codes.

I have no check engine light on. The car was also just inspected last week so it has had diagnostics done.

Bad coil boot or gummed up injector.

its not the alternator, period. if he had the po340 then maybe, but no. i guess i would toss a fuel pressure gauge on there first and see what info you get from that... usually a ignition coil is going to cause a miss under load or all the time... they might be onto something with the injectors though... if you can't figure it out theres nothing wrong with going to a dealership.

hey listen am trying to save you money i went through 370 to figure out the same problem i new my alternator was throwing alot of ac voltage out a year ago but it was good then 6 months later i had the problem where i would turn the key and it felt like it got full power then just shut off and back fired two to 3 times loud too!!!! i drove around for another month like that then when i would try and start it would i would sit for hours in front of my friends house then i would turn the key 100 more times and then it would start. i couldnt take it i could mobile guys they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg then i said fu** it am taking it to the dealership then they charge me 96 and in 20 min it was my alternator a 11.4 charge and it was just fu**ing everything up not to mention the service engine code i got. then once alternator was replaced it started but then when i got home i turn off and tried to start back up it didnt again.... at this point am pissed i tried it again it came on. i left it till the morning for work it did it again but after a half day of driving i guess everything went back to normal because i dont have the problem any more
