Default "Check engine light"/Exhaust question...

Hello everyone! This is my first post since early '08 i think back when i had fox bodies.... Well the story is... I'm about to purchase my first sn95. It's a 96 with 132K miles on it. The guy is telling me that he just put Flowmasters on it and de-catted it... so now it's drawing up the "check engine light" because of the o2 sensors... Is there a way to shut off the check engine light without having to program it differently?? I have no idea when it comes to emissions so any help would be greatly apreciated!!!

get a obd2 tuner, such as diablo or sct or get MIL eliminators

either option will give you the ability to get rid of the CEL

Would i be able to take it to advance auto or auto zone and have them check it out to make sure that it is indeed the o2 sensor?? or is this more of a dealership zone?

you can go to the parts store and get the codes read for free then google it. most likely it will be because of the car having no cats. if you clear the code it will just come back a day or two later.

IMO no. It would be easier to buy a tuner. I had a good experience with Breenspeed so I would recommend them.

are you sure that CEL is even because of the o/r pipe. for all you know it could be something else....

i would get it checked out before i bought it.

+1 on getting it checked out. Who knows what other things could have triggered a MIL if the check engine light has been on for a while due to the exhaust. I wouldn't trust his word, IMO.

u r right but u will still need to invest in something to keep the engine check light off if there isnt another problem so when there is u know! if u take the cats off u will throw the engine check light u have to trick that code in thinking that u have cats!

yeah like i said in my 2nd post i was going to go to advanced or auto zone and check the code first. I might just swap it all out for an SLP exhaust... Thanks for all the help!! I'll get back to you guys when i have an exact code for the light.
