Here's the link to a nice article and 1 possible answer if you haven't already seen it....

www.2kgt.com

Hope that helps.
I'm actually giving some thought to doing this on mine somewhere down the road...

thank you for the link bro, theres alot of helpfull info in there i did not know. however, i didnt see any instruction on how to remove that ignition shiftlock cable properly. i dont know if i just need to take the thing out and not need it for my manual or what.... has anyone ran into this problem before or am i just being to cautious about this thing and just need to yank the thing out of the ignition?

Hmm.... I thought you were talking about the neutral safety switch for some reason not letting the car start because it thinks the car is in gear now that the harness is disconnected from the switch. Can you provide more detail on the issue? Maybe someone else will be more familiar.

sure thing.... ok, u know with the automatics how you cant move the shifter unless your key is in the ignition turned to the "acc." possition or "start" possition? thats because they have the ignition shiftlock cable hooked from the shifter assembly (located under the shifter right infront) that goes up to the ignition switch area.... that cable alone is the only piece holding me back from taking out the stock automatic shifter.... i hope thats a little bit more usefull info for ya. thanks for the patience people.
