Default 3.90 gears

anyone have them? how do you like them? not very popular but seem like a good choice thats inbetween 4:10s and 3:73's.

I have them, and their perfect for me!

I've driven other gt's w/4.10's, and i really couldn't feel a difference. (even though there has to be).

One of the things i like is i can pull about 117 mph in 4th, where as my buddy's 2002 gt w/4.10's stops at 110mph.

It's a good gear if you plan on doing forced induction too!

thanks. probably going with 3:73s or 3:90's

i got 120 in 4th with my 3:27s then didnt wanna pull anymore.

3:73s or 3:90s seem like they will give me that extra acceleration without being too low in 1st and second and give me more pull up top without topping out too quick.

Don't get me wrong if my plan was to stay n/a only, i probably would've done 4.10's, but i had definant plans on some type of forced induction. The 3.90's fit my current level of power pretty well.

If you don't plan on adding some major power at some point, and don't drive alot of miles (especially highway) then i would do 410's... period!!!

IMO a bolt on only 2 valve gt needs all the help it can get.

im planning on a bump performance 330-350hp pi 4.6 engine once i get the cash.
not planning on going forced induction though.

before that i think im just doing gears and tune. suspension and body upgrades.

i do alot of city driving. but put about 100 miles a week on rural roads crusing at 55-60 mph only having to stop at a few stoplights so i guess thats classified as highway?

Well... if you are looking at 330-350 hp, and a decent amount of suspension upgrades, but no forced induction, i would then choose between 4.10's & 3.90's (not 3.73's).

If your cruising 55 on rural highways, and a decent amount of city driving, then the 4.10 will be fine.

Normal drivers can't feel the difference between 3.73's and 3.90s or 4.10's and 3.90's. Track monsters can see the difference in the times.

I went with 3.73's just cause I'm S/C'd with a manual and it's a good standard gear that wont top out before the end of the 1/4. That can also be cured by a taller tire. I'm not much help, lol.

I have 3.90s and love em. They prolly give you a bit more jolt than 3.73s and I felt that I would not want to go any higher than what I have now if you have a manual. But Definatly get them!!

i had em in my blown mustang. a good middle ground to both 3:73s and 4:10s, but imo still a little too much for a street driven boosted car. 3:73s are a better choice
