Default Problems at the not so OK corral (fuel issues)

So my 99 GT has been sitting for about 4 years while I was gone and my uncle and brother have been looking after it. I have been home 3 times to drive it in the last 4 years in which case the oil was changed and went through at least 3-4 tanks of 92 with an octane booster each time I went home. The last ime was about a year ago and the car drove perfect, no problems. My uncle and brother start it from time to time and pull it out to wash it but this time it had some problems. They replaced the battery because it died after forgetting to disconect it and it took them a few tries to get it started. After it started, my uncle drove it down to wash it and it wouldnt start back up. He said it turned and sounded like it wanted to start but wouldnt. After a while it kicked on but he said he had to keep the throttle down to keep it from dieing. Once back at my brothers house the only way they say it will start is if he sprays a little carb cleaner in the intake and that only lasts for a min. I am in hawaii so I dont have first hand observation of the problem but My first thought is a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel, or my pump is out and there just isnt enough feul getting to the engine. Second thought would be IAC,TPS,EGR,O2's??? sorry for the novel but if anyone can help me brainstorm I would apreciate it. I am building a new motor when I get back but I need to get the car to my new duty station at least. It isnt my daily driver so no big rush.

No grinding and the MAF was cleaned off. He said is feels like there is barely any fuel getting to the engine and you have to hold down the throttle to get it to stay running. He got it to run yesterday at idle and he said it sounded OK till he hit the gas then it kinda stalled till the rpms droped and then caught itself? Definantly sounds like the fuel problem to me???

check the injectors too, pull one injector plug at a time to see if it changes anything, if he can get it to idle again.

OK, so I ordered a high flo fuel filter from steeda and I know I want to upgrade my fuel pump for my upcomming engine build anyways. If I purchase a Ford GT fuel pump now can I run it with my stock tune or do I need to have it tuned for the pump?
