Default Spark Plug problem

So the guy next door was changing his spark plugs on his 99 GT. went over to check it out, and apparently he had bought one of those smaller spark plug sockets, it wasnt long enough -- and it got suck in the hole, the quarter inch extension simply pops off the socket, and we cant get it out. its one of those magnetic ones with rubber in it, and it simply wont come out. we've tried puttin a coat hanger down there, and tried usin some needle nose pliers.

so im wonderin if anyone has any idea's? im thinkin maybe a vacuum, but i dont even know if the spark plug is loose, for all we know, the socket could be spinning, and the spark plug might still be tight.

I've always used needle nose pliers when this happens. I had to use them 3 times a couple weeks ago when I changed my plugs. It might be worth another shot.

Use a magnet to pull it out.

This is why I'm willing to spend extra for locking extensions, sorry I know that doesn't help. If you have a seal pick (looks like a dental instrument) or other precision hooks that might help. I have a magnet I got from sears that's supposed to be able to pick up 15 lb. weights or something silly.. it works well though. Also, they make lots of different styles of needle nosed pliers, maybe tell him check the hardware store - or snap-on website or comparable tool brand site.

wonder if i can just go to sears and pick one up, might be able to push it in and get it to lock?

For years I've used electrical tape to tape the socket to the extension.

Pistol grip needle nose FTW! Love my pair, I don't even use the regular straight handles anymore.
