Default Help Please. Clutch problem!

So tonight i was driving around, i pulled out of the gas station, went into first normal, went into second normal, went to hit third and it wouldnt go in. so i tried to put it in fourth wouldnt go in, tried fifth wouldnt go in, i knew i had a problem so i was coasting into a parking lot, i tried to put it back in second before i pulled into the parking lot and it wouldnt go in. so i pulled in and immediately shut the car off. while the car was turned off it would go into every gear fine, so i pushed in the clutch which felt normal and started it. after it started the clutch was butter took no effort at all to push in. but the car still wouldnt go into any gear. so i turned it off put the car in first pushed the clutch in and started it, and the car took off while i had the clutch in. so i immediately got my truck and trailer and hauled the car home. i need some help as to what this might be? i think maybe the clutch cable broke and maybe is holding on by a couple threads instead of all of the threads my friend said the same thing happened to him. the car never grinded any gears, the clutch was always fine before this happened. its a 2000 gt, 5 speed, factory clutch, factory transmission, pro5.0 short throw shifter. any help would be greatly appreciated, i need to get the car running a.s.a.p... i would appreciate it if somebody would help me out before i take it to a shop, and they try and rip me for every penny on problems i dont even have. because there are no reliable shops around here. and JayC i know you live in or close to owensboro so if you know a reliable shop that does transmission work please let me know because i am located in Henderson Kentucky.

It's the cable. if it takes no effort, then you broke it.

Well, no, that doesn't sound right at all. If it's still stiff when it's been killed, then I am not sure. You could always try pulling the pedal back toward you to adjust the clutch.

It could be the throwout bearing that went out, but I don't see how that would cause your symptoms. I would still check the cable first if the adjustment doesn't work.

To me it sounds like the cable broke or stretched.
Or you bent the clutch fork but im leaning more towards a cable problem.

Good Luck , hope you cure the problem
