Default 3v motor swap ish

hope everyone is enjoying their summer as my car puts down 153 wheel horse on the dyno! woo hooooo lol 140k will do that to ya i guess along with pounding the motor to hell. but newho....

lookin at buyin a new car or a new motor/trans combo this fall because i need something reliable to drive. so im lookin thru junk yards and im finding 4.6l 3v's out of 05-08 stangs for around $3000 with trans and ecu, with roughly 30k on the motors. is this a straightforward swap? im not sure on the peticulars of the new motors, but im guessin the block and trans are all pretty much the same. so the only thing id have to worry about is guages? i searched through the archives but couldnt find anything on swappin it into an sn95. thanks for the help guys.

btw im not worried about a ton of power, just not something that i can do while on a college budget. but do you guys think a low mileage 4v out of a cobra/mach 1 be a better choice?

Honestly, Iwouldnt even bother with the 3v swap... you would be much better off doing a 99-04 2v or 4v swap.

I took a look at that link. For a motor with only 1K on the clock, it sure was filthy. Mine has 50K and is cleaner than that. I would be very wary.

Yea i see what you are saying.... I cant see pics on forums when i am at work so i didnt know if he had any pics or what it looked like. Just read the thread and posted it... I would also be hesitant now that i can see it. But you never know. He might have drove through a dust bowl...? LOL!

thats right i forgot about the fly by wire on the new cars.... i wanted to do an 03-04 cobra swap, but thats a lot of money haha. i might look into findin either a cobra motor outta the 99-01 or a mach1 motor. they seem to be a little easier to find and a lot cheaper.

as much as id like to keep it a 2v, the 4v has the NEAT factor that people love. so i might still go that route. thanks for the replies guys!

3v would be a better swap imo. Tuning ability and cfm flow coupled with simplicity make it a great choice definitely better than 2v and in some ways better than a 4v, you can get about 280 cfm out of them and hey are cheaper to have ported/built. Go to loganmotorsports.com they have a nifty 3v swap kit.
