Jackscrew?
i cant seem to figure out how i am suppose to loosin this screw called a jackscrew. i can access it through the hole in the side of the block after i take out the side main cap bolts. however, there doesnt seem to be a tool i have that will work to loosen them. any ideas? this is a 97 sohc engine.
ok now that the caps are off, the rear main plate that covers the back of the block wont come off the back of the crank??? i assume the rear main seal is holding it. how do i get this off?

You need the correct size allen socket. then just loosen it up its only like 14 ft.lbs. I just took an allen wrench that fit and cut the L off and stuck it in a socket that fit and loosend it. I think craftsman has a set of long allen sockets, but I didnt have the set so I made my own.
edit: didn't read the last post. The plate is just tight It's got like a seal retainer or something, it'll come off with some force.
