Exclamation BAD SITUATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, if locking up my motor on the way home from buying wasn't bad enough, I got a new motor and thanks to motorman524 and his dad, got it running in one day. We pulled the old motor to find a big hole in the block. I guess when the timing chain jumped, it threw a rod and blew through the block. I paid an $1100 core charge and because the block is that damaged I will only get 250 buck back. I leave with the Air Force in 27 days and was wondering should I get what I can back or try to sell the heads? The car is a 99 cobra 4v. If you would be interested speak up. I just neeed to make a decision quick. Let me know what you think. How much are the heads worth?

Im confused, the timing chain jumped and threw a rod?

I thought, that would only just make pretzels out of some valves, there has to be valve damage if it jumped>?

I know of the oil pump failure throwing a rod, but thats sad to hear that happened, it always happens at the worst time for a Mustang Fan.

But yea, IF you can find a good 4 VALVE at the yard, that's your best bet, our put your project on hold till you get back.

They want an aluminum block and I know a guy who was going to make sure the heads are ready to go if I sell them. What should I do? At least the car is running.

You dont even need to assemble the motor really, just slap some bolts to hold it together and toss it in the box. Find a Mark VIII motor for dirt cheap, rip the heads off, sell them to someone, then toss your heads on with a few bolts and be on your merry way. You might have to spend 300$ but its better than eating 1100
