Default Engine Problems- Need HELP!!!

Im new to forums period and know almost nothing about cars, but I have a supercharged S281 and it has a knocking noise. I think I spun a bearing[/COLOR] and I dont know what to do. I went to a performance shop and they told me that I would need a new (performance) short block for $3800 and the labor would be $1800!!

is that too much for a legitamite job/good engine? For this price can I get a 4V engine? is that possible? would it function with the other components that my engine has right now? supercharger, heads, tranny, etc.?

I was considering getting a 03-04 Cobra engine with tranny and the same performance shop told me it would cost $5000 for labor!! is that right?

My friend suggested a shortblock from MMR or Coast High Performance, are these any good?

What do ya suggest? Do ya know any reputable performance shops in Houston? and about how much would this all cost? PLEASE Help!!

I would appreciate it......

I would take your friends advice and go with MMR. I've heard good things about them. As for the 4 value switch, its alot of work and parts needed. Do a search on here and you will find a bunch of threads.

Depends on what it did to the block. You may not need a new one. You'd be better off to find a motor pulled out of a wrecked car and put it in. Check ebay out.
