Default When cold the my cars grinds a little bit in 1st & 2nd

When I first start my 96 GT in the morning, it usually grinds a little getting into 1st and 2nd, it seems as though as it warms up I don't have the problem, do i need a new tranny?. Its got 114k and I put a steeda Tri-Ax in it on Sat. I don't know what the service records are for the car as I just got it and am the 3rd or 4th owner.

On another note I was getting a miss fire in the 3rd and 5th cylinders, I changed the plugs and the light went away and the drive ability of the car is a night and day difference.

One last thing, if the intake manifold in my 96 has the aluminum crossover in the front then that means its been changed to the newer one right?

thanks

I think our Trans are just sensitive to temps, once they get to op temps, the seem to be alright.

1 No.

2 Awesome.

3 Yes.

At least, that`s the short version. Anyway, mine tends to grind if you shift too quickly before reaching OT on the colder days, but it`s really nothing to worry about. Your synchros will be all right, just take it easy

My TR 3650 always goes into 2nd rough when its cold out. It never grinds when I shift during WOT @ 5200 rpms though. My car has 50,000 miles and I'm thinking about just buying a rebuild 3650 off of ebay for $700.

Yeah I seriously want to build my transmission. Are there any kits that correct the many problems with T45's? Or.... are T45's just junk?

I'm seriously considering just swapping in a T56, I had an 01 Z06 (RIP ) and it shifted beautifully no matter what. When I get the money its either gonna be that or PI heads, cause it seriously pisses me off when first thing in the morning I have to deal with gears grinding.

Is your fluid level correct? What type of fluid are you using? This should not be happening.

How long has it been doing this grinding in 1st and 2nd? Did you check the fluid level when you changed your shifter? Too little fluid could cause this.
