rear end diff????

Default rear end diff????

well my differential started leaking yesterday, and imjust curious if anyone can give or find me some instructions to do this? im in germany and they dont really work on them and the ones that do cost a rediculious amount so im gonna do it myself..any help i would much appreciate!! thanks

If you're talking about the rear cover, it's simply bolted in place. Be sure a drain pan is under it as all the gear oil will come out. Replace the gasket (some guys use RTV also) and reinstall the cover. Fill the diff. with the CORRECT fluid up to the fill plug hole, and tighten the plug.

thanks a bunch man, but one more quick ? how do i fill it back up....is there a plug at the top?i know i use a pump to put it in im just curious. dumb question i know but i dont wonna **** it up cause it has to go threw inspectiona and theyre **** on that type of stuff! thanks a bunch

The plug is on the upper, front, left of the differential housing.

You will also need to add 4oz. of friction modifier, unless you use a synthetic gear oil that does not need it. The FM makes the oils "slipperier" and is needed to keep the traction lock clutches from binding up in turns.

A pinion seal leak is whole different repair, and much more difficult. I was hoping that he was referring to the cover.

Make sure you don't top it off. check bullittarchive.com. it has a step by step instructional with pictures. But it is simple to do. the site also has several other very informative how tos. some of which are not on this site. i actually did this about two months ago.
