Default HID help

when i turn my headlights on, sometimes the HIDs dont fire...sometimes one will fire and sometimes the other will etc... usually have to turn my lights on and off about 3-4 times to get both of them to fire and stay on

does this sound like a bad ballast or like a ground/power problem...my battery is pretty corroded, could that cause an issue like this? ive been meaning to clean it up but i havent gotten around to it

sounds like bad signal voltage. might not be strong enough to get it "over that hill".

check your ground with a multimeter. If that is okay it is a sign of a ballast going bad. it has happened to me twice.

they will flash on for a second while the truck is cranking, then wont fire all the way.... do you think cleaning up the battery would fix it?

also, once theyre fired they dont have problems...once i get both to light, i can shut them off and turn them back on and they stay...also when i lock the truck they flash just like my normal headlights did

if the ballast is going bad, wouldnt it cause issues all the time, not just when theyre cold? if i have them on, and shut them off, they never give me a problem coming back on...its just that initial start i have troubles with

are the the hids connected to the stock wiring harness or are they run through a relay connected to the battery? If they arent connected directly to the battery starting them may take to much power for the stock harness, relays are like 10-15 on ebay and get power strait from the battery through a proper wiring harness

your relays could be sticking. unplug the relays and plug the HID's directly into your stock wiring. run like that for a couple days and see how the headlights react. if they react the same - your ballasts are going bad. if they fire every time - your relays are sticking OR theres a loose wire with the relays.

remove your ground connections, clean the frame side of the contact area with sandpaper or wire brush and replace the grounds.
