Default diy cobra upgrade?

Hi guys,

Just put my car in for inspection, and as anticipated, I need new front brakes. The cobra upgrade on AM is too expensive, so I am looking around and putting the kit together.

First, is it a major foul to use cobra branding on the brakes?

These are the calipers:

They also have rotors (sounds like a good deal for brembo rotors @ $70):

It's a good deal, but honestly I was going to just get the red pony ones, so I wouldn't have anyone calling me a fobra.

buyford racing does have the red pony ones, but they don't have rotors, which I need also. http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/pr..._id=689cPath=6

I'd prefer to get from one location, so I only have one shipping charge, which is why I am leaning towards the latemodelrestoration.com stuff.

Oh, one final thing, the cobra calipers aren't listed as coming with the brackets, like the red pony ones do. I'm assuming that they just didn't list that, but want to know if I'd have to buy brackets too.

Thanks!

not sure on the brackets, but either kit would be fine. get the cheaper of the two.

they will more than likely come with the brackets but contact them to make sure. as for being a "fobra", who cares! its a functional upgrade unlike badges and ****, and it looks way better than stock

Well, I went to order the cobra ones, and as I did it, they said the item was removed from my cart. I guess someone bought it while I was thinking about it...lol. I went and ordered the mach 1 calipers from buyfordracing. I'm just going to go to Napa and get the stock rotors there.

Thanks for your input, and I'll post pics when the job is complete

Good god no, if any one calls it a Fobra have their panties in a bunch.
F it if people call it a Fobra. I've got a '99 GT with the Cobra brakes and any one who calls me a Fobra can kiss my behind.

They should have a bunch of them, it must have been a glitch in the system.

I hope your talking about the stock MACH 1 rotors, because they are designed for 13" rotors not the small stock GT rotors.

They must be out of stock on the complete set of 10 th anny front brake kits because it was cheaper to get the full kit then piece it together even using NAPA parts.

lol - I hear ya...and I've never really been one to care what other people think.

I got the Mach 1 calipers for $189, b/c the cobra ones were sold out and am now shopping around for 13" rotors.

I have no idea why AM sells their 'kit' for $700...what a rip off.

As already posted, Cobra 13" Brembo's $70 each http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/BRE-27005
You may be able to find them cheaper on eBay with a little patience.

buyfordracing.com has the best price on a complete kit. (minus banjo bolts.)
