Default Surging Problems

Hello All,

I have a 2002 GT and I was having some surging issues. I took all of your advise and changed the COP's and the spark plugs and the car runs great. I still have a problem at idle. The car will gurggle and the RPM's will vary from 700-1100. Any ideas as to what my issue is? When I drive the car it runs perfectly, it is only when I stop or put it in park.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Steve

I haven't tried cleaning the IAC. Where and how would I go about cleaning it or replacing it? Thanks again for your help.

You could also try buying a can of MAF cleaner and cleaning your MAF sensor. I had a bit of a strange idle and that did the trick for me.

Just an update. I ordered a new set of COP's from an eBay dealer. Got them for $92.00 for all 8. I installed those and new plugs and the problem is solved. I do have anothe question though, when I was changing the plugs I pulled the plug closet to the firewall on the drivers side and when I pulled the spark plug I had oil all around the top of the sparkplug. It was not on the threads or near the spark tip but just around the nut portion of the spark plug. Anyone know where this oil could be coming from?

Take a good look around the valve covers. At high mileage, the gaskets can begin to leak. I actually need to replace mine soon.
