Default Stock block

ok, i was about to puchase a rotating assembly that says it can handle 1000 hp. I am thinking this is at the fly wheel. My question is i also see setups that are 1000 hp with the block. If i just got the rotating assembly will my stock block handle up to the 1000 hp. My goal is 600-650 with my supercharger and another 100-150 with nitrous. I want to make sure i do the right build to handle this. Do i need to get a new block?

your stock block is fine for 1000hp. If you want it to handle 1000hp youll need all forged parts with arp bolts everywhere. The assembly is the most important part of the whole build, so just make sure the professionals put it together or else it might only handle 100hp...

well you would need to get the block clearanced for the stroker crank, but thats about all youll need. A stroker on these engines doesnt gain a whole lot. Your probably talking a 20-30hp difference at best

well alot of people dont look at it this way, but a 5.4 is basically a stroked 4.6 on a slightly different block . Many engine manufacturers use stroking to gain power. On turbo applications a stroker can be used to spool a turbo faster because the longer stroke increases exhaust volume. Then you can use a bigger turbo and make more power

if its a centrifugal supercharger then it probably wouldnt benefit you as much because those cars make the most power in the upper rpms. If you have a kenne bell then it would be more beneficial. Also the stroker will make the same power at a slightly lower boost level

You are much better off just buying complete block from MMR rather than going to forge it yourself. I was going to go your route ended up blowing my stock motor and purchased used complete 04 4.6 SOHC motor for $900 including heads with 23,xxx miles and I was going to forge it.

In the end, I opted to buy a built MMR800 block with polished cobra crank, Manley Pistons, etc, etc. Go with their long block stage III ported heads custom cams and you will be one happy camper.

If you car is a street car, do some research with over 600 rwhp for street car - once you get much beyond this car is not as much fun to drive. You will need a sh*t of cash in the suspension setup to handle that kind of power.

Default Transmission upgrade

Ok this may be a stupid question but what is the difference between and long and a short block. If i go long will everything fit like my supercharger. What advantages are there to a long block?
