Default How sticky?

What is the stickiest tire I can run with my set-up? Obviously I could run a set of nitto DRs or m/t DR but what else?

You can run lots of setups....it just depends on what you want to be using it for

Primarily for the track and races on 'closed' roads

So basically you are looking for something you can daily drive on with occcasional track visits?

How often will you be going to the track?

You can get the ET Street Radials...seems like what most people run on the street right after the Nitto 555R's. You could also try the new Nitto NT05R which has had great reviews. I've personally seen a cammed LS3 Corvette at the track the other day with them and the owner was very pleased.

Well, the track (figuring you mean the 1/4 mile here) and road courses are VERY differenty directions it tires. That isn't to say, you CAN'T do both on a single tire, but one event will suffer for the other.

1/4 mile = soft compounds soft/tall sidewall, so typically a 15" wheel is best

road course = soft compounds short/stiff sidewall and typically 18" wheel is best.

Pick your poison

I run M/T Dr's and they hook up great at the track and on the street with a 15" wheel.

^ they will hook just fine on the street, but have a soft sidewall and can be wicked sloppy in a hard corner. I think it is a bad idea to DD those bad boys.

If for the strip, Hoosier Quick Time's are good as well. Haven't heard many complaints about them.

I don't dd mine, it's a weekend car. And yes they do sway on a hard turn. Idk if he ment track as in dragstrip or roadcourse, but mine do just fine for me on the dragstrip.

I put 18K miles on my MT ET Street Radials..

a good tire, but they were over kill for my power levels...

that being said, I was able to cut a 1.85 on them with stock suspension..nothing spectacular, but very respectable
