Default would this be safe?? (predator question)

well i was talking to guy at the drag strip last night and he said since he advanced his timing he leaned out his fuel curve in the low end ad richened it in the high end to get more power from the timing advance i have my timing set at 6 right now and it runs fine but i was wondering if this would be safe to do?

Default RE: would this be safe?? (predator question)

I would never adjust leaner than OEM. Lean condition promotes detonation especially when coupled with timing advance/compression/load. Only way his statement makes sense is if he used some solid method like wideband O2 to determine that he was running excessively rich at lower RPM's and subtracted a little fuel from that setting. Remember that Diablo user settings only affect wide open throttle operation and only in two RPM bands. He may not have been using a Diablo.
