i just bought a blown cobra motor (no heads,intake just the bottom end) with holes in the block for $100. i was gonna pulll the crank out of it. how strong is the 99 cobra crank?

 

I was under the impression, up until recently, that it was forged... Apparently it's not, and it is Hypereuretic like the rest of our rotating assembly... From what I was told (which I find hard to believe), it only supports ~400hp...

Pls, someone clarify...

Is the crank in good condition? You said the block had holes in it. [&:] I'm guessing so otherwise you wouldn't have bought.

 

Cobra's didn't get forged cranks til 03. Mach 1's have em though.

 

actually heres what happened. my friend blew his motor. bought a block with holes in it for $100 from a friend so the insurance company would give him money cuz he bought a big bore stroker (5.3 i think) motor. so yeah i mean its missing two pistons and two rods are shattered. but ill take the crank to the airport and have them X ray it for me. i do it all the time with my climbing gear that i drop
